Acer aspire 1360, can get 1280*800 in windows but not in Linux

What Video card do you have?  If its nvidia try adding the following
lines.

 Option     "UseEdid" "FALSE"
        Option          "UseEdidFreqs"  "False"
        Option  "ModeValidation" "NoEdidMode"
