Acer aspire 1360, can get 1280*800 in windows but not in Linux

I know it's a late answer, but try 1280x800 at 50.

I have an Acer Aspire 1362, and each time I tried 60Hz, all I could get
was 1280x768. I lowered the vertical freq. at 50Hz (you should modify
your Modeline line accordingly - use a modeline calculator) and it
worked.
