[Dapper] Flash plug-in doesn't work...

Hi,

I am running Dapper x86 (up to date), and the flash plug-in doesn't want
to work.
I followed the instructions in the help system, and it says to install
the package "flashplugin-nonfree" from multiverse, which I did.
Then it says to run "sudo update-flashplugin". But this command return a
not so encouraging "installation failed" message. And indeed, I can't
load web sites with flash content, and if I type "about:plugins" in the
address bar, the flash plugin indeed isn't listed.
I looked in the man page of "update-flashplugin", hoping that there
would be a "verbose" and/or "debug" option, that could give me a clue,
but sadly no such options.

Is this a know problem, is there an equally known solution ?

I tried the other plug-in, "libflash-mozplugin", but also the browser
does recognise it, it fails to play flash web sites too, so not much of
an improvement.

Any help gratefully received ! :-)
