Is it wise to upgrade to Dapper (Kubuntu) now?

It's other failing is that it didn't actually work for me. It gave me no
options to upgrade from Breezy to Dapper so I ended up changing my
/etc/apt/sources.list and the doing sudo apt-get update followed by sudo
apt-get dist-upgrade

This was the only possible way I could see to do the upgrade as there was
no "Check" button as described on the page at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DapperUpgrades (Upgrading from Ubuntu 5.10, step
3)

Perhaps this was because I was not using US based apt sources at the time?

Hopefully I haven't irrevocably broken anything by doing the upgrade
"manually".
