I can't speak for the US or China, but here is good 'ole sunny South
Africa you can pick up modems fairly easily. I use an external 56k
Duxbury and as far as I know they are still manufactured. Half the
country here is on broadband, the other half still stuck with dialup
so our circumstances are very different from yours it seems.
