Nope... didn't forget. I can go to VT or do the 'sudo'. I did that by design
because I leave a VT open w/MC just in case I need to do some major
moving/editing or back up the whole deal.
At any rate, I seem to have the driver in place but there is still a prb:
yogi at flight5:~$ sudo ndiswrapper -l
Installed ndis drivers:
password:
bcmwl5 driver present, hardware present
yogi at flight5:~$ ifconfig wlan0 up
wlan0: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device
I did a 'lsmod' and ndiswrapper is listed in the mix:
usbcore 129668 6 ndiswrapper,pl2303,usbserial,ehci_hcd,uhci_hcd
/etc/ndiswrapper/bcmwl5 has the following:
yogi at flight5:/etc/ndiswrapper/bcmwl5$ ls
14E4:4320:1799:7000.5.conf 14E4:4320.5.conf bcmwl5.inf bcmwl5.sys
Now, this works on Breezy 5.10 w/o any issues whatsoever. Dapper, on the
other hand, wanted to load the bcm43xx driver automagically and I don't need
or want it. It doesn't work. I have tried iwconfig but that is pretty
useless unless & until one gets the card online. Once the card is online
Breezy takes care of everything w/a 'dhcpcd wlan0' and I'm online at the
downtown office. Dapper is another story.
Guess I need more help. :-)
