Xine refuses to play some ogg files

Hi all,
I've been having some weird problems with xine for a few years now, mainly as
the xine backend in amarok. Other than general stability issues, I have been
having trouble getting xine to play some ogg files, while others play just
fine. I finally decided to look for some more info since the amarok package
I'm using doesn't have any other backends available, and as a large part of
my music collection is in ogg format.

I have a short list of what ogg vorbis versions will work in xine, and which
wont:
1.0 RC 2 yes
1.0 yes
1.1.0 RC1 yes
1.0.1 yes

1.0 RC 1 no
1.0 beta 4 no

That is by no means a complete lists. I am sure there were other versions
packaged for debian/ubuntu. Has anyone else experienced strange problems
playing back ogg vorbis files using xine? I am particularly interested in
whether or not anyone with ogg files encoded with versions 1.0 RC1 and 1.0
beta4? You can find out what version your ogg files were encoded with by
just doing: `file <somefile>`.

I'd like to get some more information from other users before I file this bug
with the xine team (or ubuntu, as I'm not sure what their policy on upstream
bugs is).

Thanks in advance for any help.
