Jean, I've been "kinda" following this thread and something is screwed
up. I would suggest installing a "fresh" dapper install of either
ubuntu or kubuntu.

http://ubuntu.cs.utah.edu/releases/kubuntu/6.06/ OR
http://ubuntu.cs.utah.edu/releases/6.06/

Pick the alternate install CD and burn the iso to you're CD.
Boot the CD and install. Follow the instructions at:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats

Follow the specific instructions for dapper! ;)

Xine is what I use here, so install xine-ui, and libxine-extracodecs ...
AFTER you've followed the restricted format stuff. NOTE the specific
instructions for libdvdcss2!! Btw, I never had totum working here,
not well anyways.

( Installing libdvdcss2

    *

Applies to all architectures except AMD64
          o

            Install the libdvdread3 package.
          o

Then download the libdvdcss2 library by typing in a
terminal:

            sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread3/examples/install-css.sh
)

Make sure you have you're /etc/apt/sources.list looks like this.. prior
to all the above. :) (sorry about these instructions, but I had surgery
on my right arm and this typing with one hand is SLOW!)
