turn off the bell: how?

Hi,

how can I turn of the bell? I know:
 - setterm -blength 0   (console)
 - xset b off           (x11)

but where can I put in those commands, so my laptop
will never beep (e.g. in tab expansions in the shell),
without me entering those commands after each login?
