turn off the bell: how?

There are at least two other options:

1.  Blacklist the "pcspkr"

#I hate the beep
blacklist pcspkr

2.  Go into the sound configuration section and look for the System
settings.  There you can turn off the beep as well as turning on the flash,
should you want.
