You Sir are my saviour!



My wireless card was not showing up in Network Manager at all, despite
being a healthy connection.  A solution for the
command-line-phobes....



System -> Administration -> Networking



Go to your wireless connections properties (mine was eth1) and deselect
the checkbox for ´Enable this connection´



Your connection should now show up in NM (assuming the other million
things are right). 



Essentially does the same thing as Dr Jan said but graphically.
