Second X session

I'm trying to start a second X session on a second console using icewm instead 
of the default wm (kde) using the command
startx icewm --:1 

On other distros, this works fine, but under 6.06, I'm met with the following 
error:

FreeFontPath: FPE 
"/usr/share/X11/fonts/misc:unscaled" refcount is 2, should be 1; fixing.

and then I'm returned to the command prompt.

If I just do startx -- :1, on the second console, I get a second instance of 
X running KDE, but I'd really like to run the lighter WM on the 
second console.

Can anyone shed lite on this error and how to resolve?
