tetex errors

This is incomplete.  Why isn't tetex-base configured?

If you run

  sudo dpkg --configure -a

do you get any error messages?

If you run sudo apt-get dist-upgrade, are any packages kept back?

Since LaTeX works for me on Dapper, I suggest you look into the package
configuration problem first.
