Md5sums and burning CDs

Is it necessary to enter in to a Gnomebaker vs Bonfire vs K3b vs
Graveman debate? Please I'm just asking the suggested methodology for
verifying written data. As I see it one must use the seperate md5sums
program. Does anyone know of a GUI for this?
