Just try to make two copies of the same source CD using GnomeBaker or Bonfire.
Maybe you'll find a way to get that done without doing the whole copying
twice. I definitely didn't. In k3b, the select box where you choose the
number of copies to be done, is right there where it belongs, in the copy
dialog.
Copying did take an estimated two or three times longer with the Gnome tools
than it did with k3b. I don't know why and I don't know how to change this.
Some other minor annoyances also existed in the Gnome tools, IMO. I don't
remember exactly what these were, since I dropped them almost immediately for
being in no way a match for k3b.

And these dependencies are a problem ... why?
I use Gnome as my desktop environment. But I nevertheless use some kde
applications like k3b or KMail since there are no alternatives in the Gnome
world I know of. This works quite well and I don't have the slightest
impression that the kde dependencies hurt in any way.
But the good thing is: whatever *you* do, it's *your* choice. And maybe
GnomeBaker or Bonfire are the perfect tools for your requierements, so it
wouldn't be necessary for you to "mess" with the kde dependencies.
