5.10 (as stated in the original post - below)

Meaning that it doesn't report anything on the commandline. If there is
a place in /var/logs (or somewhere else) that it might record its
actions, I'd like to know - maybe there's a way to config skype to do
this?

I did check on the other system. The user and password I'm using on the
system which cannot login is identical to the ones I'm using on the
working system.

I'm sure - meaning that I made sure of what I was saying before I said
it - I wasn't trying to be sarcastic here. Sorry if you misunderstood
me.

True. I tried both with the other machine logged in and without. In both cases I get the same result.
Skype reports "Error Logging In" after entering the user name and password.

I am able to log onto the Skype site with the same username and password
that is not working on the second system. I can log onto the Skype site
on both machines using the same username and password (separately and
simultaneously).

I am running firestarter on both Ubuntu 5.10 machines with identical
setups. I have tried starting Skype with the firewall shut down on the
box that is not logging in, and am getting the same results.

If the beta 1.3 Skype runs better on Dapper, then it's probably not a
good idea to try it until I can at least log on using Breezy (5.10)
