Newbie

Thank you Felipe, Adriano and Dieter for your constructive suggestions in
helping me to try and get stated with Ubuntu - nothing did help though and I
am not clever enough to sort it out by myself.

Unfortunately this list has mainly been concerned as to whether Ubuntu is or
should be free depending on definitions and such and whilst I found these
skirmishes entertaining and interesting this left me with a feeling of total
inadequacy and that anyone who hasn't gone 'the long way round' should be
more 'computer literate' before trying to join the Linux society. I had
thought that Ubuntu was 'plug and play' but as User Iam wrote: 'This is
life....Up to user to tune'. Didn't help much but put things in perspective.

My conclusions are that Ubuntu, at least, is not for Newbies unless there is
a group out there who are able and willing to help us get started that I
havn't been able to find.

Consequentially and regretfully I am off now to erase my HD and reinstall
Windows XP :-(
