Hi Jeff,

In KDE, that can be changed through this sequence of menu choices: "System 
Settings", "System Administration", "Regional Accessibility", "Country/Region 
& Language".

I haven't used Gnome in years, so don't know where the equivalent setting 
would be. But sometimes it helps to know the right terms to Google for, which 
is why I listed the KDE equivalents for you.
