Hello,

I tried the livecd of both Ubuntu/HUbuntu. Both (is logical) did not start the eth0 connection. dmesg reports it detected the Broadcom 4400 ethernet card but fail while trying to load a module "b44".

The messages from dmesg are
[4294921.637000] eth0: Broadcom 4400 10/100BaseT Ethernet 00:14:22:e6:f1:cb
[4294930.091000] b44: eth0: Link is up at 100 Mbps, full duplex.
[4294930.091000] b44: eth0: Flow control is off for TX and off for RX.
[4294940.091000] NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0: transmit timed out
[4294940.091000] b44: eth0: transmit timed out, resetting
[4294940.092000] b44: eth0: Link is down.
[4294943.092000] b44: eth0: Link is up at 100 Mbps, full duplex.
[4294943.092000] b44: eth0: Flow control is off for TX and off for RX.
[4295000.550000] eth0: no IPv6 routers present

What should I do when installing either flavour of Ubuntu.

tx
Alain
