That's weird. I have the same model and was using the network
interface till yesterday (when I bought my wireless access point :) ).

I didn't try to LiveCD, but I noted that, sometimes, the installer
fails to bring the interface up or, if it comes up, can't connect to
any dhcp server. After the installation finishes, I go to the
networking and select dhcp, active interface and everything goes
smoothly.

I just throwing random guesses here, but maybe it is the kernel version.

(BTW, I have the same messages on /var/log/messages, when I was using
the interface, even the watchdog one -- but the time appears to be
when I unplugged the cable to try the wireless interface.)
