Breezy install won't boot

I can just report ideas coming from my own experience, for the value it 
is. You might check if the CD reader you are using has the lens clean.
It needs a tiny drop of alcohol once a while. The other thing I happened 
to check once was the cables. I changed it all, and with the new 
connectors the trick was done for a time. (Last March, Warty, I could 
connect the net and try to use anything, the response was 11 seconds later!)
Just one question, when Grub fails, what's written on the screen ? does 
it appear such as 'loading stage 1-5 please wait' message ?
or do you get just a grub shell invite like this: '>' ?

Boths are scary! (for us newbees). Did you try to lounch a live CD to 
see what happens ? did you check if the BIOS of your's need an update ?

All theses come from what I experienced, I can't say more.
