It was fairly easy, however one could call it a dirty hack. I'm sure it can be
done 'the right way', however I couldn't find it before I tried my own.
The problem was solved when I gunzipped a file
'Generic-PCL_5c_Printer-hpijs.ppd.gz' from /usr/share/ppd/Generic/ and moved it
to /usr/share/cups/model. Now the printer add dialog could find it, and I was
able to proceed.
However, the site that I linked in my previous post didn't help further. I could
not use the printer the lpd way. It corrected out when I used the printer by
giving the connection info in smb://username:passwd@machine.domain/printer way.
Now it prints fine.
