I hadn't, since I thougth there would a 'linux-like' solution, instead of a
'windows-like', if you catch my drift. :) However, neither aptitude reinstalling
both of what you suggested, nor dpkg-reconfiguring does not help. When I try to
add a new printer, there still is no Generic to choose from.

I browsed a little throughtout my filesystem, and there seem to be a gzipped
driver file in /usr/share/ppd/Generic/, but I have no idea how I could utilize
that file. I've searched the net for the solution, but I only found a page that
tells me how a person got the same model working, and shares the configuration
info too: <URL:http://tinyurl.com/myqsj>

Even after attempting to write this info to /etc/cups/printers.conf it refuses
to work. I've tried to use foomatic-gui, and it shows me the generic driver
option and I can choose the correct driver too, but after the wizard completes
the DeviceURI shows 'file://dev/null', which obviously isn't helping. :) My
guess is it cannot somehow connect to the printer (or the print server), but I
cannot figure out why.

So, any other tips or suggestions I could try? Thanks in advance!
