MythTV versions

I have a MythTV backend built from Koppmyth. I'm setting up some
worksations using Kubuntu 6.10, and the mythfrontend program wants
to speal protocol version 31. I upgraded the backend o the latest version
(never a prticularly fun proposition :-)), and it still only speaks version
26.

Is there some place I can get debs for Ubuntu that will speak the older
version?

Has anyone set up a Myth backend using Ubuntu, paricularly converting an
existing system? I have about 1.2T of files, and I really don't want to
lose themm.
