How can one say Linux is $-free . . . ?

exactly my point. I guess due to the lack of the correct words for  
"free of charge" and "free as in freedom" we were arguing about the  
same opinion (A few friends of mine earn some extra money with  
exactly that business modell - software itself is free but not the  
work not the patches etc.)
