Ubuntu on a 486?

As far as I know, anything later than Pentium 1 is a 686.

"uname -m" will tell you.

The oldest machine I've used with Ubuntu ( 5.10 - Breezy ) was a Pentium
200 MMX - which was a 586 ( The rather odd motherboard, small form factor
of some kind,  finally died, sadly )
