Ubuntu 6.06 Machine Constantly locking up.

Hi,

Up until recently my PC running Ubuntu 6.06 (+ all latest updates) was
running perfectly, with barely any problems.

On arriving at work yesterday (this is when said machine lives) I was
greeted with a totally frozen screen, the pc couldn't be pinged from
another on the network, and even Left ALT+SysRq+R (keyboard in raw mode)
and other Left Alt+SysRq keys had no response.

I rebooted the PC it came up no problem and I used it for a short while.
Then about 5-10 minutes later when I came back to the PC it was once
more frozen (the PC is my 2nd PC so I don't use all the time).

Every time I reboot it locks up with 10 minutes!! (it even locked up
whilst I was connected via VNC and in the middle of working).

Does anyone have any suggestions on which logs etc. I need to look at to
try and investigate the problem ???
(whilst the PC is left, there are no applications running).

Whilst its not a vital PC, it does hold my local mirror of apt repos
that I use for our intranet servers. And more importantly it hosts my
work music collection!!!
