You have to have a driver for your webcam running.
Is it the same cam as I mentioned on my page

If so hit the link http://mxhaard.free.fr/ and download the drive. 
Compile and modprobe it. And it should work.

The spca5xx webcam driver is not in Ubuntu 5.04, but should be in the 
next release.
