Hi all!
I just wanted to tell you the story of my breezy update from this
weekend. I followed the suggestions from ubuntu.com, changes hoary to
breezy in sources.list ran apt-get dist-upgrade and found myself without
gdm, and a stable gnome-desktop enviroment.
No chanche to install ubuntu-desktop or anything, apt didn't like it,...
But I didn't mind, I wanted to reinstall the system all over for a long
time now. And the console did work probably. So I packed my /home folder
to a tar archive and backed it up to another maschine. On this other
maschine I downloaded the breezy CD (I had to do it under windows,
because firefox isn't stable on the hoary install of this maschine,
after the latest hoary updates, even if I find it quite curious, because
I seldom use it).
The I reinstalled the whole system from CD and must say, nice work,
breezy looks great, even if the boot-splash control panel doesn't work.
The I copied the most important settings folders to my new home.
directory and now got a brand new breezy system running.
MFG,
Rainer
