Can't see my Windows partition from within applications

What programs do you need for work, there is probably a sizeable
alternative or you can run them under wine, id be willing to bet. 



Anyway, youll need to make an entry into /etc/fstab for that disk or
part your trying to access. 



/dev/hdx      /media/windows  xxxx    nls=utf8,umask=0222 0       0



where hdx is the signifier of yoru disk, /media/windows is the
directory that partition or disc will be mounted on, and xxxx is the
filesystem type , fat32, ntfs, ext3 or whatever......
