You're right, the module is already compiled. This is the result I got
from the command you suggested.
dave at ubuntu1$ find /lib/modules/$(uname -r) -iregex '.*wacom.*'
/lib/modules/2.6.12-9-386/kernel/drivers/serial/wacom_acpi.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.12-9-386/kernel/drivers/usb/input/wacom.ko
