Breezy upgrade disaster

Can you get a terminal session going. If so try this:



sudo apt-get update 

-(to make sure that the sources are upgraded)-

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade



That should do it. I think that your problem may be the 'smart
upgrade'. I think that this is designed to stop new packages
interfering with previously installed ones, and the full upgrade
doesn't need it.
