I don't know how to do cd's, but we do this with etherboot and floppies.
 Then we just have netboot images that are a few megs that we rebuild.
If you would like I can find the docs we used to create this.  Oh, and
the preseed file is got over http, though I suppose we could store it on
the netboot images.
