dual boot issues

I think it has nothing to do with dual boot. 

Sounds like an hardware issue. If it is really hotplug-related: does it
depend on any plugged or unplugged devices? USB? Perhaps you should
check the cables/connectors of the hard drives and cdroms/dvds if they
are attached properly.

Just a thought.
