I must say I have had the same problem with respect to Touchpad mice.  
My iBook's touchpad hasn't worked too well with it.  It hasn't been too 
bad though, and certainly not enough to remove Ubuntu.


And I'm sorry about the problems you had installing Ubuntu.  You are 
only the third person I have heard on the list that has had any major 
problems with data loss while installing.  And one of them simply 
selected the wrong thing.  On the other hand, there have been quite a 
lot of people that have tried Ubuntu and have reported that they like 
it and are probably going to be deleting their WinXP permanently 
because they realize how much they hate it (just kidding, but wishful 
thinking nonetheless...).

Anyway, gl with Ubuntu if you wish to "stay".
