Of course, Ubuntu, like any good distro, /will/ overwrite your data /if
asked/.  I think we all disagree with the concept that Ubuntu, or any
good distro, will /intentionally/ destroy your data with no input from
you.  Maybe you didn't notice what exactly it was proplsing to do, but
that's another story altogether, and /not/ the fault of the software.
