[Hoary] using the Warty kernel ?

Your first message mentioned you were doing this to try to make a TV
card work that worked fine under Warty. Does Hoary work WITHOUT the
card installed? (I ask this because I filed kernel bug 8813 and it
ultimately turned out to be a conflict with an old ISA modem. I bought
a Lucent "winmodem" supported by the lt_modem driver for US$5.)

I am NOT an expert, but it seems like you might also have the problem
you describe if you copied the kernel but did not copy all the kernel
modules. Did you install the kernel using APT or Synaptic? If you did
not, you will want to go back and use them to install the kernel
package because it will save you LOTS of headaches.
