Hoary: UTF-8 conversion. I think I experience minor problems

Sorry, I had forgotten to say that I _have edited /etc/locale.gen and
ran locale-gen. (I suppose I thought it would be self-evident. Of course
it isn't :)
I also tried dpkg-reconfigure locales. Same result.

Done that too. 

Thanks for your input. I dunno, to me it seems I did the right things (I
also changed the windows mount to use nls=utf8, and works too). In fact,
except man and Perl, everything is fine. Do you have further ideas?
