RAM (and Speed)

Okay just tried it :-)

Windows : 
 - to see the desktop : 30s
 - fully available : 1m 30s (could be 2m, it's hard to say, as the hard
drive is constantly working every few seconds !!)

Ubuntu :
 - Kernel : 1m 10s (hotplug is a bit slower than normal because of the
SCSI card and devices)
 - Gnome  : 1 m 45


So basically the overall time are the same. Linux "feels" slow to boot
because you see everythingt that's going on, as the kernel is booting
and printed messages, whereas Win XP hides everything and people don't
know what it's doing, nor when it's ready for work...
