I have Warty running on 3ware Escalade and Intel SLC14(?) hardware RAID 
cards fine.
The correct Intel management software took a long time to find, and the 
3ware stuff is easy. Of the two I prefer the 3ware - it's a touch 
cheaper, and provides better "operator-level" tools.

In both cases, the RAID card presented an array to the BIOS, enabling 
GRUB to get started with no problems. Then the kernel picked up the 
relevant driver (gdth for the Intel, 3xxxx for the 3ware) and proceeded 
fine.

Which RAID card were you using? Did it work from the PC BIOS?
