Start a GUI with non-default language - How?

Hi

I am trying to start some application with the GUI in Swedish, which is
not the default language (english) on my Hoary box.

How should I do this?

I have tried the below with gedit, gnome-terminal, and f-spot.
They always starts up with English GUI though.

What am I missing.

I need to verify a translation, so need to have it run with another language
