Now I personally don't think SmartPM is a great idea. It will have
problems in time. Each distribution places files in a different
location, it will have to find out what you are using and realign where
files are going. If anything they would make it for Debian, which if
you ever tried adding a debian repository to ubuntu is bad news, and not
for us.
I would use it if I had a need, I have everything I want through apt and
RPM's through alien.
