You can run most applications under SUDO...
When i want to do some GUI file rearranging i just type sudo nautilus
and pop! there is my Root nautilus window where I can drag and drop
anything I want
if you look in Applications>System Tools>Root Terminal
there is already a full root term that you can use by giving your password
Anything else that needs root asks you. If you ask most 'nix pros
logining in to a gui as root is a bad thing.
I think sudo works well, I prefer it over the root account.
