Possibly, but the firebird settings have failed too, and as I write I am 
trying to see why it fails. On a consistent level the dba and non-dba users 
passwords are not accepted at login time, either with postgreSQL or 
firebird. 

As for the OpenOffice application - absolutely in support of you.
