quasar accounting on ubuntu??

it is also becoming a little senseless ??

i now have 4 machines running quasar on firebird on ubuntu, which have
yet to fail. i have tried with postgresql - but the database connection
setup was too complicated for me plus i am so used to firebird (6 years
in its many guises).

but looking at the problems, i wonder if it will be worthwhile to have
an alternative to quasar which can be based on openoffice.org ? i have
1 oo.o.1.1 application for students (cards) and courses (items) and
attendance (transactions). the tables are actually in a spreadsheet and
has forms for students, courses and attendance. it will run anywhere so
long as it has oo.o. at the moment it is very basic, but i think i
should be able to get a ledger based system going by the end of the
year. creating oo.o applications is fairly similar to ms access and ms
visualbasic (in which i was also involved in developing a customised
accounting application). so it should be fairly simple to use and
customise.

any feedback and comments on this is greatly appreciated. thanks.
