Did your installation-CD provide a driver for the megaraid-device?
On debian I had to use an installation CD spesifically made for
Dell-servers to be able to use the LSI MegaRaid controler as the
standard Debian installation would not do that.
Once the basic operating system was installed, I could compile a new
kernel with the correct configuration and from there continue with the
building of the server.
