Is Ubuntu safe to try

No offense taken. I want Linux to be the best operating
system in the world, particularly for new users. (Actually,
right about now I think the best thing for it would be if it
provided an easy glide path for former Windows users. It's
on its way.) Anyone who helps me make it so is my pal. :-)
