The floppy icon on the desktop opens up the real location of your
floppy (it is not actually on the desktop).
Try pointing an app to the directory /media, you should see your floppy
there and it should show the content.
Do not forget to unmount your floppy when done (right-click the desktop
icon, choose unmount).
