Hmmm.  With the most modern mailing list software, like Mailman (which
I run under Linux for several lists), Lyris, and at least several
others; the list owner typically has the choice of doing three things:
 1) Leave Reply-To: alone, 2) Set Reply-To: to list, 3) Set Reply-To:
to sender to the list.

Each package has its own default and own recommendations.

The theory is that it depends on the nature of the list.  A list
advertising things to sell or give away tends to do 1) or 2).  A list
for a community of technical people interested in the answers will
typically do 2).  Of course, everyone has their own theories and
arguments (I have definitely heard the "don't munge the headers"
argument many times).
