Network interface not active after reboot

Did you Applications -> System Tools -> Network Tools -> Network Device
-> and change it from/to  "lo" or "eth0"?

If you need to configure "eth0", start a Root Terminal,

 _ignore_the_error_message_. A window should pop up, select the network
device "eth0", is "Activate when computer starts" set (checked on)? If
you put in the address of your modem and using the Ping tab, does it
ping?
